Our Annual Commissioning ceremony and awards will be held on Monday November 6, 2017.
On behalf of everyone at OAPCE Toronto, have a restful and wonderful summer!
See you in September!
Please find attached our May Newsletter, three very important items that you should share with your communities:
1) THE INSTITUTE FOR CATHOLIC EDUCATION (ICE) wants to hear from everyone in the TCDSB community about Catholic education in Ontario! “Renewing the Promise” is a dialogue to solicit your input about Catholic education in Ontario and will help guide the work of ICE for the future.
Our TCDSB teachers, staff and students are also a very important part of this dialogue process. School principals will be holding special Catholic School Parent Council (CSPC) meetings to facilitate discussions with parents.
You are also invited to offer your ideas on-line through a special Thought Exchange website. Please log in at the link provided to complete the survey no later than May 19, 2017: http://signup.thotex.com/iceont/Pyv
The ideas and comments you submit will provide important input for a gathering of the Catholic community later in the year on the theme of “Renewing the Promise”. When the process is completed, results and analysis will be publically available and form the focus for Catholic Education Week 2018.
2) TCDSB CONSULTATION: PROPOSED CHANGES TO SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMISSIONS POLICY
The Ministry of Education has directed the TCDSB to adopt fixed attendance boundaries for all secondary schools to be consistent with most Ontario school Boards. Complying with the Ministry’s request for boundaries for all TCDSB secondary schools will help us qualify for funds to build new schools in areas where existing schools are overcrowded.
The proposed Secondary School Admissions Policy changes may impact your child’s future choice of high schools.
Secondary school admission policy changes will otherwise impact all NEW registrants, and WILL NOT come into effect until the secondary school registration process begins for the2018-2019 academic year.
All TCDSB parents, staff and stakeholders are invited to participate in the community consultation from May 1- 19, 2017 with an online survey.https://www.tcdsb.org/FORPARENTS/AdmissionsandRegistration/SecondaryAdmissionsPolicy/Pages/AdmissionsSurvey.aspx
A flyer for this consultation can be found here.
3) PRO Grant Applications are due MAY 25, 2017! Do not forget to apply for up to $1000 for your parent engagement at your school! We have also enclose the parent survey that we had discussed at our last meeting, thanks to Allison and Let's Get Together for sharing this amazing tool!
Last, but not least, from all us at OAPCE Toronto, many Happy Greetings for all Mothers today, and everyday!
